Controllers

Custom-tuned water-cooled controllers

The controllers are the heart of an electric scooter: power delivery and battery management run through them, shaping top-end performance as much as low-speed handling and feel. The Predator's controllers were designed from the ground up by an engineering team to handle both its weight and its 13-inch wheels, which need far more torque to reach the performance this machine promises. Extensive research, testing and tuning went into a controller that delivers it reliably.

Heat management

Electronically controlled water-cooling system

The circuitry that controls this much power generates serious heat, which would otherwise limit output at full performance over long runs. To increase reliability and unlock the maximum the Predator can give, a first-of-its-kind electronically controlled water-cooling system is built into the controllers. A temperature sensor activates a pump that cycles low-conductivity liquid from the controllers to the side fins on the deck, which double as heat sinks.

Battery technology

Panasonic EV cells, 72V 50Ah, about 2000 cycles

Instead of the usual 200 small 21700 cells, the Predator uses a Panasonic battery built from twenty 3.6V 50Ah EV cells, the kind used in electric cars. The design is safer, with lower lithium content that cuts fire risk, and far longer-lived: roughly 2000 recharge cycles against about 500 for typical 21700 packs, at least four times the life. The custom controllers are tuned for the high discharge this battery can deliver.

Frame

C-shaped suspension

The Predator is a large, high-powered 13-inch electric scooter that still rides with the excitement of a mid-sized performance machine. Big in dimensions, power and wheel size, it was engineered to feel nimble and controllable, which meant a C-shaped suspension and a frame built to carry the supersized proportions.

Triple rebound-adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers

Three high-performance hydraulic shocks with adjustable rebound give the Predator a smooth ride over any terrain. The rear uses two shocks rated at 1200 lb coil weight and the front a single 2000 lb shock. A knob on each one fine-tunes the rebound to your weight and the ground you ride.

Tires

13-inch all-terrain tires

Massive 13-inch wheels give a rider huge confidence over varied terrain and obstacles. The extra ground clearance and larger diameter make the ride significantly more stable and safer over bumps, cracks and imperfections. The Predator is a beast that stays smooth and stable while it delivers the adrenaline.

Brakes

Custom-designed quad-piston hydraulic brakes

Stopping power got the same attention as speed. Quad-piston hydraulic brakes were custom designed by the YUME team for unmatched stopping power on a vehicle of this mass. An extra-large reservoir keeps enough fluid in the line, and even the hydraulic connectors are sized to the Predator for reliable, repeatable performance.

Battery access

Removable battery

The Predator's deck gives easy access to a removable battery. Swap packs to keep riding without downtime, charge or store the battery separately without moving the whole machine, and keep maintenance simpler. The ride is always ready to go further, faster and safer.

FAQ

YUME Predator questions

How fast does the YUME Predator go?
Up to 63 mph (100 km/h) with a 165 lb rider in dual-motor mode. That speed is for private property; the riding mode is set from the display; ask in the shop about your local rules.
How far does it go on a charge?
Up to 100 miles (160 km), tested by the manufacturer with a 165 lb rider at an average 25 mph. Sustained high speed, hills, cold and heavier riders shorten it.
What is special about the battery?
It is a 72V 50Ah pack built from twenty Panasonic 3.6V 50Ah EV cells rather than hundreds of small 21700 cells. It is rated for about 2000 recharge cycles, roughly four times a typical pack, with lower lithium content for safety, and it is removable from the deck.
Can I remove the battery?
Yes. The deck opens for access, so you can swap packs, or charge and store the battery separately from the Predator.
Why does it have water cooling?
Delivering 10,080W generates heat that would otherwise limit output on long full-power runs. A temperature sensor triggers a pump that cycles coolant from the controllers to the finned sides of the deck, which act as heat sinks, keeping power steady and the electronics reliable.
Can it climb steep hills?
The manufacturer rates it for 35 to 45 degree inclines. Rider weight, charge and surface all affect it.
Is the suspension adjustable?
Yes. All three hydraulic shocks have rebound knobs: a 2000 lb front shock and two 1200 lb rear shocks, each 130 mm. The rebound knobs are on the shocks; ask in the shop if you want a hand setting them.
What are quad-piston brakes?
Hydraulic calipers with four pistons instead of two, custom designed for the Predator's mass, with 160 mm rotors, an oversized fluid reservoir and electronic braking assist. Our technicians service them in the shop.
Is the Predator waterproof?
The body is rated IP54 and the display housing IP67, so rain and wet roads are fine. Do not submerge it, and never charge a wet or swollen battery. Bring it straight in instead.
What does the diagnostic PCB do?
The board shows fault indicators even if the Predator will not power on, so when you bring it in our technicians can identify the issue immediately and repair it faster.
How heavy is it?
170 lbs (77 kg). It is not a carry-up-the-stairs electric scooter; plan on ground-floor or ramp storage and a vehicle with a ramp for transport.
What is the maximum rider weight?
330 lbs (150 kg).
Does it have lights and turn signals?
Yes: two aluminum headlights, brake lights, turn signals, an integrated horn and a remote-controlled stem light.
Is it suitable for beginners?
No. The Predator is a flagship for experienced high-performance riders. If you are newer to fast electric scooters, ride it with us in the shop first and we will talk honestly about fit.
Can I test ride it first, and is there a warranty?
Yes to both. Come to any of our shops and ride the Predator before you decide. It is covered for one year on the brands we carry, handled in our shops by our own technicians.
Is financing available, and where do I get it serviced?
Yes, apply in the shop or at checkout and pay over time on approved credit. Service is at any of our shops, where our technicians handle hydraulic brakes, tires, suspension, batteries, cooling and firmware for every electric scooter we sell.
