How much is a KuKirin G2 Max?

About $600–$1,000 at Wilson's today. The only option at checkout is the warranty: 12 months as standard or 24 months extended, and the extended plan costs a little more. See today's price.

Three things are already in the price that cost extra on other KuKirin models:

  • The seat kit. On the G2, G2 Master and G4 the seat is a paid option that ships separately. On the G2 Max it comes with the electric scooter, and it is detachable.
  • A carry bag, also included.
  • Free standard shipping to the lower 48 states and Washington, D.C.

Financing is available on approved credit; see financing. KuKirin is a brand we carry rather than one we design, so it has a year of warranty cover for manufacturing defects through us, and we manage the claim with KuKirin for you.

How fast is the KuKirin G2 Max?

34 mph (55 km/h) in the top of its three speed modes, from one 1000W motor. The other two modes are 9 mph and 18 mph. The bottom mode is genuinely slow, which is useful on a crowded path or for a first ride, and 18 mph is the setting most riders use day to day.

For comparison, the dual-motor G2 Master reaches 37 mph. Three miles an hour is a small gap; the bigger difference between the two is climbing (see below).

How far does the KuKirin G2 Max go on a charge?

43 miles, rated, from a 48V 20.8Ah battery. That is the same capacity and the same rated range as the G2 Master. KuKirin's own store quotes 70 to 80 km (about 43 to 50 miles) "under good conditions" and a 20 to 20.8Ah pack; we publish the spec-sheet figure, and real range is shorter with a heavier rider, hills, cold weather and the 34 mph mode.

A full charge takes 10 hours, so plan on charging overnight rather than topping up between two trips in a day.

How much does the KuKirin G2 Max weigh?

68 lb (31 kg), and that figure includes the 3.9 lb seat kit, so the electric scooter alone is a little lighter. It folds to 1,260 × 605 × 580 mm (about 49.6 × 23.8 × 22.8 in) and fits in most car trunks, but it is a two-hand lift and not one for stairs. It carries riders up to 265 lb (120 kg).

G2 Max or another KuKirin?

Within the G2 family, the choice comes down to motors, climbing and what's included. Figures are KuKirin's, from our product pages:

Model Motor Top speed Range Climbing Weight Seat
KuKirin G2 800W 27 mph 34 miles 20° 57 lb Paid option
KuKirin G2 Max 1000W 34 mph 43 miles 22° 68 lb with seat Included
KuKirin G2 Master Dual 1000W 37 mph 43 miles 28° 72 lb Paid option
  • Choose the G2 Max if your riding is flat or gently rolling and you want the full 43 miles and a seat without paying for climbing ability you won't use. It is the model we point most customers to in this family.
  • Choose the G2 Master if you have a sustained hill, ride near the 265 lb limit, or both: two motors take it from 22° to 28°. See KuKirin G2 Master vs G2 Max.
  • Choose the G2 if price decides it: it gives up 7 mph, 9 miles of range and the included seat.
  • Want hydraulic brakes? The KuKirin G3 Pro is the only KuKirin we carry with them.

Is the KuKirin G2 Max street legal?

Not in New York. New York State only treats a device as an electric scooter if it has a top speed of 20 mph or less and weighs under 100 lb; the G2 Max is built for 34 mph, and a lower speed mode doesn't change that. Models over 20 mph aren't sold or shipped to New York City addresses.

In California, electric scooters may not be ridden faster than 15 mph on public roads, whatever their design speed; see our California electric scooter laws guide. Elsewhere, rules vary by state and city, so check yours, and keep the 34 mph mode for private land or places where it is allowed.

Keeping a KuKirin G2 Max running

The G2 Max rides on 10-inch pneumatic tires with inner tubes, so tire pressure matters more than anything else: low pressure costs range, makes the steering vague and invites pinch flats. We check and set it at every service. Our technicians service KuKirin and every other brand, wherever you bought it, with express service at every shop. Starting prices, parts and labor included:

Service From
Simple inspection, any brand Free
Flat tire repair (inner tube) $40
Tire and tube replacement $65–$120
Airless (no-flat) tire install $40
Brake repair $25
Rotor replacement $35
Folding hinge and latch repair $30
Suspension and fork service $80
Error code fix $35
Tune-up and safety check $50

Every price is a starting price that includes parts and labor; the final price depends on the model and part. A full diagnosis with disassembly or test equipment is $30, waived on repairs over $100. See every price in our repair price guide.

Light rain and wet roads are within its IP54 rating; avoid standing water. Never charge an electric scooter that is wet or has a swollen battery. Bring it straight in.

We ship the G2 Max free anywhere in the lower 48, and our shops in New York City (Flushing, Elmhurst, Brooklyn and Long Island City) and San Francisco service it: find a shop or book a repair. Ready to buy? See today's price on the KuKirin G2 Max.
