Fifty miles changes the question

Most commuters charge every day. With the TK5's rated 50 miles, the question becomes how many days you can skip. Drag in your daily miles and watch the week fill up.

Estimate from the rated 50-mile range and 19.3 Wh per mile. Speed, hills, cold and rider weight shorten it.

Three systems that make it a flagship

Pick an EBS level, watch the water rise, see the motors.

Dual braking: EBS plus double hydraulic disc

Three EBS levels recover kinetic energy on deceleration, up to 60% at level 3. Two hydraulic discs bring heat dissipation, stability and the emergency stop.

IPX7, the whole system

Battery, motors, controller, display, front and rear lights are all rated IPX7: brief immersion to 3 feet for 30 minutes without water ingress. Heavy rain is not an issue.

New-generation drive: 2 x 1000W

The most lightweight and powerful drive in the range, with 3000W of peak power, KERS energy recovery and an electronic brake system, riding on adjustable hydraulic suspension at both ends and 10-inch self-sealing gel tires.

FAQ

TankTorq TK5 questions

How fast does the TankTorq TK5 go?
Up to 31 mph in Sport mode with both motors. We set the mode for your area at handover.
How far does it go on a charge?
Up to 50 miles from the 60V 1260 Wh battery, rated at 19.3 Wh per mile with a 176 lb rider. Hills, cold, speed and heavier riders shorten it; EBS regeneration adds some back.
How is the TK5 different from the TK3?
Twice the battery (1260 Wh against 600), 2 x 1000W motors with 3000W peak, hydraulic instead of mechanical discs, IPX7 instead of IPX6, a laser headlight and a 50-mile rating. It weighs 76 lbs against 54.7.
How long does it take to charge?
6 to 7 hours on the standard 4A charger, or 2 hours 40 minutes with the optional 8A fast charger. A running light shows progress, turns blue at 95% and off at 100%.
What is EBS?
Electronic braking with three levels; at level 3 it recovers up to 60% of kinetic energy. Note that EBS only activates below about 95% charge, so charging to 95% keeps it available immediately.
Is it waterproof?
The battery, motors, controller, display and lights are rated IPX7, brief immersion to 3 feet for 30 minutes. Heavy rain is fine. Never charge a wet or swollen battery; bring it straight in instead.
Can the tires go flat?
They are 10-inch tubeless tires with a sealant gel inside that fills small punctures automatically, in summer or deeper winter tread. Our technicians handle swaps in the shop.
How heavy is it?
76 lbs. It folds to 47.4 x 23.4 x 23.6 inches, but it is a two-person lift into a vehicle and not a machine to carry up stairs daily.
Does it have a remote?
Yes. Key access, start and stop are available from the remote control and the E-TWOW app, which also handles software updates, maps, GPS and settings.
What happens when the battery gets low?
Low-battery mode limits speed so you can reach your destination rather than stop.
Can it climb hills?
Rated for a 30% grade, the steepest in the TankTorq range. Rider weight and charge level affect it.
What is the maximum rider weight?
286 lbs.
Which colors are available?
Dark Grey, Army Green and Orange, all currently in stock at the manufacturer.
Is it suitable for beginners?
It is a flagship for experienced riders. Newer riders should start in Eco mode, which we set for you at handover, or consider the lighter TK2.
Can I test ride it first, and is there a warranty?
Yes to both. Come to any of our shops and ride the TK5 before you decide. It is covered for one year on the brands we carry, handled in our shops by our own technicians.
Is financing available, and where do I get it serviced?
Yes, apply in the shop or at checkout and pay over time on approved credit. Service is at any of our shops, where our technicians handle hydraulic brakes, suspension, tires, batteries, displays and firmware for every electric scooter we sell.
