The Riding'times GT54 Pro is the faster mini electric motorbike: 60V, 3000W peak and a 50 mph top gear, against the GT54's 48V, 2000W peak and 40 mph. Range is close (60 vs 62 miles), and both fit riders from 4'2" to 5'9" on the same frame. The GT54 sells in the $500–$1,000 band and the GT54 Pro in the $750–$1,250 band; see today's price on the GT54 and GT54 Pro pages.
Both are electric dirt bikes with hydraulic disc brakes, an adjustable inverted fork, motorcycle-size 14-inch and 12-inch tires and a quick-release battery. We sell both with free shipping to the lower 48, and our technicians service them in our shops.

*Prices change often: the product pages show today's price. Specs are Riding'times' published figures as listed on our product pages; where Riding'times' own stores differ, both are shown and credited. Range depends on speed, terrain, rider weight and temperature.
How fast are the GT54 and GT54 Pro?
Both have three throttle gears, changed from the display. The GT54 tops out at 40 mph and the GT54 Pro at 50 mph; first gear on both caps speed at 15 mph, which is where a new rider starts. Riding'times' US store lists the first gear as 16 mph.
How the top figures were measured matters. Our GT54 Pro listing gives 50 mph with a 143 lb rider and 34 to 40 mph in everyday riding, depending on terrain, load and battery level. Riding'times' European store lists 65 km/h and 80 km/h, about 40 and 50 mph, and says those were measured without a rider. Expect real top speeds below the headline numbers, more so for a heavier rider.
The bigger difference is pull. The Pro's 60V system feeds a 3000W peak motor with 338 Nm of torque, the same motor as the full-size GT73 Pro, against the GT54's 2000W and 290 Nm. You feel that on climbs and out of corners.
How far do they go on a charge?
Riding'times rate the GT54 for up to 60 miles from a 48V 27Ah, 1300 Wh pack, and the GT54 Pro for up to 62 miles from a 60V 25Ah, 1500 Wh pack. Riding'times' US store shows both 60 and 62 miles for the GT54 in different places. Fast riding, hills, rider weight and cold all cut real range.
Both batteries are quick-release, so they lift off the frame to charge indoors, and both are UL 2849 compliant. The GT54 Pro charges in 8 to 8.5 hours on its 67.2V 3A charger, by our listing. Our GT54 listing gives no charge time, but Riding'times' own blog puts a full charge on its 54.6V 3A charger at about 8.5 to 9 hours, so both are overnight charges.
How much do the GT54 and GT54 Pro cost?

Best for teens and first-time riders: GT54
The Riding'times GT54 is the one most first-time riders in this range start on. The 27.2 inch seat lets a 4'2" to 5'9" rider flat-foot it, the sine wave controller brings the throttle in smoothly from a standstill, and 40 mph is plenty for trails. It is still a 2000W machine: a helmet and protective gear every ride, and for a young rider, an adult decides when the next gear is unlocked.
Best for experienced riders: GT54 Pro
The Riding'times GT54 Pro is for riders who have outgrown the GT54's pace but still want the compact frame: 50 mph, 338 Nm and a slightly bigger pack, on the same brakes and suspension. Same frame means the same fit, so the choice comes down to experience and how hard you ride, not height.
Taller than 5'9"? Look at the full-size GT73, with a 30.3 inch seat and two batteries. See GT73 vs GT73 Pro and Riding'times GT73: price, top speed and range.
Are the GT54 and GT54 Pro street legal?
Riding'times don't list either as street legal. Their official FAQ says licence, registration and insurance rules vary by country, state and city, and their European store says not to use these machines on public roads. Their US store describes them for gravel paths, packed dirt, campgrounds and permitted recreational riding areas.
They aren't e-bikes either. With a 2000W or 3000W peak motor and 40 or 50 mph, both are outside the e-bike class limits most states use, and New York limits e-bikes to motors under 750 watts. California goes further: Vehicle Code §312.5(d), as amended by SB 1271, says a machine built to go past 20 mph on motor power or past 750 W is not an electric bicycle and can't be sold or labeled as one. That is why we call them electric dirt bikes. For where you can ride, see where to ride electric dirt bikes in New York and the best electric dirt bikes.

We do. Our technicians handle tires, brakes and controllers on both, with Riding'times parts on the shelf, and express service runs at every shop. Motorcycle-size knobby tires, hydraulic brakes and an adjustable fork are the parts that see the most use on trails.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the GT54 and GT54 Pro?
The GT54 Pro moves from 48V to 60V: 3000W peak instead of 2000W, 338 Nm instead of 290, and a 50 mph top gear instead of 40. Frame, brakes, suspension, wheels and fit are the same.
How fast does the GT54 Pro go?
Its top gear is 50 mph by Riding'times' figure, measured with a 143 lb rider. Our listing quotes 34 to 40 mph in everyday riding.
How far does the GT54 go on one charge?
Up to 60 miles from the 48V 27Ah battery; the GT54 Pro is rated for up to 62 miles. Real range is shorter at full speed and on hills.
What size rider fits the GT54?
Riding'times recommend 4'2" to 5'9" for both the GT54 and GT54 Pro, with a 27.2 inch seat. Taller riders should look at the GT73.
Is the GT54 a motorbike or an e-bike?
No. It is a mini electric motorbike, or electric dirt bike. Its motor and speed are well past e-bike class limits, and in California it can't legally be sold or labeled as an electric bicycle.
Can I charge the battery indoors?
Yes. Both batteries are quick-release and lift off the frame, so you can charge them indoors while the machine stays in the garage.
