The short answer

Every Hiboy electric scooter we sell, compared: the S2 family, S3, Q2 and U2 seated models, kids' models and the faster Titan and X300, with NYC's rules.

For most New York City riders, the Hiboy to buy is the S2 Pro: designed for 19 mph, rated for 25 miles, with a 500W motor, at 37.4 lb. If range matters most, the S2 MAX is rated for 40 miles at the same 19 mph. Need a seat? The Q2 and U2 are designed for 20 mph. Hiboy's faster models, the Titan, Titan Pro, X300, MAX Pro, VE1 Pro, ECOM 14 and U2 Pro, are built to go over 20 mph, so they aren't street-legal electric scooters in New York City. Here is every Hiboy electric scooter we sell, side by side.

Which Hiboys fit New York City's rules
  • New York State only treats a device as an electric scooter if it weighs under 100 lb and has a top speed of 20 mph or less.
  • Designed for 20 mph or less: the S2, S2 SE, S2 Nova, S2 Pro, S2 MAX, S2R Plus, S2 Lite, S3, KS4 Pro, Q2 and U2, plus the Joy Haul and Q2 Lite kids models.
  • Over the limit: the VE1 Pro, ECOM 14, X300, MAX Pro, U2 Pro, Titan and Titan Pro. Models over 20 mph or 100 lb aren't sold or shipped to New York City addresses.
