FAQ

Hiboy P6 questions

What class is the Hiboy P6?
Class 3. It reaches 20 mph on the throttle alone and up to 28 mph with pedal assist. Class 3 rules vary by state, so we set it up for where you ride.
How far does it go on a charge?
With a 143 lb rider in ideal conditions, 25 to 31 miles on throttle only and 50 to 62 miles with pedal assist. Weight, terrain, tire pressure, style, weather and assist level change it.
Is the battery removable, and how long does it charge?
Yes. The 48V 11.6Ah waterproof battery lifts out for indoor charging and separate storage. A full charge takes about 6 to 7 hours.
How powerful is the motor?
A 750W brushless rear hub motor with 1000W peak: strong acceleration, smooth power and climbing up to 20% grades on paved and unpaved roads.
What riding modes does it have?
Pedal-only, pedal assist and pure electric throttle, so you choose between exercise, efficiency and fully powered riding.
What are the fat tires good for?
Traction, shock absorption, stability and comfort on pavement, gravel, dirt, sand and snow. They are puncture-resistant too, which cuts the risk of flats from thorns and debris.
Does it have suspension?
Yes, a hydraulic front fork with 80 mm of travel, preload adjustment and a lockout for smooth roads.
What brakes and gears does it have?
Front and rear disc brakes, hydraulic or mechanical depending on the configuration, and a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain for hills, flats and trails.
Is it good for commuting?
Yes. Long range, a removable battery, comfortable suspension, fat tires and Class 3 speed make it a strong daily commuter as well as a weekend explorer.
Is it good off-road?
Yes, for gravel, dirt, sand, snow and moderate trails. The fat tires and front suspension add traction and comfort on rough surfaces.
Is it waterproof?
It is rated IPX4 for light rain and splashes. Do not submerge it or ride through deep water, and never charge a wet or swollen battery. Bring it straight in instead.
What rider height and weight does it fit?
Riders from 5'3" to 6'4", up to 265 lbs (120 kg).
How is it different from the EX9?
Same battery, range and Class 3 speed. The P6 runs 26 x 4 inch fat tires and a cadence sensor for mixed terrain; the EX9 runs 2.5-inch tires, a torque sensor and hydraulic brakes for the city. Ride both in the shop.
Is it good for beginners?
Yes. Three modes, predictable assistance, stable fat tires and adjustable gearing suit first-time e-bike riders and experienced cyclists alike.
Can I test ride it first, and is there a warranty?
Yes to both. Come to any of our shops and ride it next to the EX9 and EX11. It is covered for one year on the brands we carry, handled in our shops by our own technicians.
Is financing available, and where do I get it serviced?
Yes, apply in the shop or at checkout and pay over time on approved credit. Service is at any of our shops, where our technicians handle brakes, tires, batteries and gears for every electric bike we sell.
