Electric scooter & e-bike repair
Any brand, any issue. Batteries, motors, controllers, brakes, tires, throttles, charging ports and error codes. We repair electric scooters, e-bikes, electric unicycles, hoverboards and e-dirt bikes at six walk-in shops in New York and California. The first look is free, most repairs take about thirty minutes, and you are welcome to watch.
Express repair
Express repair runs at all six shops. Most jobs are finished in about thirty minutes while you wait, and the same day whenever the part is on the shelf. For the common repairs it usually is. No appointment, no drop-off, and no waiting for someone to call you back with an estimate.
Riding for a living? You go first. A dead e-bike in the middle of a shift is a lost day, so tell the front desk you are working and you move to the front of the line at any Wilson's. We keep the parts that usually stop a working rider in stock: tubes, brake pads, chargers, charging ports and controllers.
Book a repair
Pick a shop, tell us what your ride is doing and choose a time. The right technician and the right parts will be ready when you arrive. Booking is free, with no deposit and no card details. You hear the price before any work starts, and the first look is free whether you book ahead or walk in.
Six shops, one standard
Same prices, same process and the same free first look at every shop. Roll your electric scooter or e-bike straight in through the front door. No appointment needed, and you are welcome to watch the repair while you wait.

Every class of electric ride
Most shops pick a lane. A regular bicycle shop will not touch a hub motor or a battery pack, and a manufacturer will only look at its own machines. We work on every kind of electric ride, any brand, any issue. Open a lane below to see what comes through the door most.
Commuter models, long-range machines and 60 mph performance builds. Brakes, tires, throttles, controllers, battery packs, charging ports, folding stems, and the error codes other shops hand straight back.
Hub drive and mid-drive, cargo, commuter and fat tire. Motors, controllers, battery packs, brakes and drivetrains, including the online-only brands whose official answer is to ship the e-bike back to them.
Sur-Ron, Talaria and E Ride Pro class machines. Controllers, battery packs, suspension and the crash damage that comes with riding them hard. Corona is our e-dirt bike shop.
Almost everywhere else, electric unicycles are mail-in only. Bring yours into any of our shops instead. Pedal boards, control boards, battery packs and shell damage are all handled over the counter.
Repair services we offer
Every figure below is a starting price that includes parts and labor, and it is the same at all six shops. The first look is free and common repairs start at $25. Some rides take more work to open up than others, so the final price can come out a little higher. We confirm it with you before any work starts.
Simple inspection

Start with the symptom
Pick what yours is doing and we will tell you what it usually turns out to be, what we check when it comes in, and what the repair starts at. Every answer describes what we do in the shop. The first look is free either way.
A ride that will not power up is almost always one of four things: a charger that stopped working, a damaged charge port, a blown fuse, or a battery that has dropped below the voltage its BMS will wake up at. It is very rarely the motor, and it is usually the cheapest repair on this page.
We trace power from the port through the fuse and BMS to the controller instead of guessing. That is the difference between replacing a $12 fuse and being sold a battery you did not need.
Lithium packs give roughly 300 to 500 full charge cycles before the range loss becomes obvious. A daily commuter gets there in under two years. That is normal wear, not a defect, but it is also not a reason to replace a pack that still tests fine.
Most shops only replace. We load-test the pack under real current draw and read the BMS first, because a fair number of "dead" batteries are a bad charger, one weak cell group, or a BMS that needs resetting rather than a whole new pack.
When nothing happens at all when you plug in, the fault is nearly always outside the battery: the charger, the charge port, or the small fuse behind it. Ports take a beating. They get kicked, rained on and pulled out sideways, and a burnt or loose port is one of the most common repairs we do.
Bring the charger with you. Half the time we hand it straight back with the news that the charger died and the pack is fine. That is worth knowing before you spend money on a battery.
Lights on, screen up, nothing when you twist the throttle. The power is arriving and the command is not. We work through it in a fixed order: battery output, main connectors, brake cut-off sensors, throttle signal, then the controller. On e-bikes a sticking brake lever sensor is a surprisingly common cause.
Working through it in that order is what makes this a same-visit fix most of the time.
Power that vanishes under load and comes back when you stop usually means a battery hitting its low-voltage cut-off, a loose main connector, or a controller going into thermal protection. It happens on hills and under hard acceleration because that is when current draw peaks, and it is why we test the ride under load rather than on a stand.
Tell us when it happens: over bumps, on hills, or after ten minutes of hard riding. That one detail tells our technicians where to start looking, and it is the first thing we will ask when you roll in.
Gradual speed loss is usually drag rather than a dying motor. Under-inflated tires, a brake pad touching the disc, and an ageing pack that cannot hold voltage under load account for most of it. A rubbing brake alone can cost several miles per hour and a good chunk of range.
This is the classic tune-up: pressures set, brakes trued, bolts torqued, pack tested. It is also the cheapest way to get back the performance you think you have lost.
Squeal is nearly always contamination or glazing on the pads. Rubbing is caliper alignment or a disc knocked out of true, which a curb can do. Neither fixes itself and both get worse. On a machine this heavy at this speed, brakes are the one thing not to put off.
Brake repair here covers pads, disc cleaning, clearance and a bearing check as one job at one price, rather than itemising every part the way most shops quote it.
Flat tire repair starts at $40 and takes about 20 minutes. A full tire and tube replacement starts at $65 and takes about the same. Electric scooter tires are harder work than bicycle tires. Many are tubeless and need proper bead-seating equipment, and on a lot of machines the motor lives inside the wheel.
Riders who work for a living, delivery riders especially, usually end up switching to solid or self-sealing tires. It costs more once and then stops costing anything.
Power it off and do not charge it. Charging a wet machine is how a water incident becomes a fire. Bring it straight in rather than waiting to see whether it dries out, and do not power it on to test it. Bring it even if it seems fine, because water leaves corrosion that eats connectors for weeks afterwards.
Salt is worse than rain, which is why this is a standing service at all six shops. Road salt in a New York winter and sea air in San Francisco do the same damage on different schedules.
Stem play is the most common complaint on folding electric scooters and it is not something to ride out. It is usually a folding clamp that has worked loose, a worn headset, or bolts that have backed off over a few hundred miles of potholes. Caught early it is an adjustment. Left alone it wears the mating faces and becomes a parts job.
If the clamp faces are already worn and the part is discontinued, we can make a replacement in the shop rather than telling you the machine is finished.
Battery service
"Not charging" and "not holding a charge" are two different faults with two different causes, and they get mixed up all the time. A pack that will not take a charge at all is usually a charger, a port or a fuse. A pack that charges fully and then dies early is a capacity problem, or a BMS that cuts out early.
Range loss with age is normal. Most packs are good for 300 to 500 full charge cycles, which a daily commuter uses up in under two years. Wear like that is not a defect, and it is not a reason to replace a pack that still passes a load test.
Can e-bike and electric scooter batteries be repaired rather than replaced? Often, yes. A single weak cell group, a failed BMS, or a broken connection inside the pack can frequently be repaired for a fraction of a replacement. Most shops only sell you a new pack because that is all they are set up to do. We test first and tell you plainly which one you are looking at.
Do not charge it, do not ride it, and do not open it. Put it somewhere away from anything that can catch fire and bring it to us, or call and we will talk you through moving it safely. A damaged lithium pack is the one part of your ride that is genuinely dangerous.
A resting voltage reading tells you almost nothing. We pull real current through the pack and watch how it holds up. That is what separates a tired pack from a healthy one with a bad connection.
The battery management system logs why it is cutting out: imbalance, over-temperature, undervoltage. We read it rather than guessing from the symptoms.
Cell group, BMS or internal connection work where the pack has life left. You are told plainly which it is, with the test results, before any money is discussed.
When a pack really is finished, it is replaced with a certified one, never a loose cell pack of unknown origin. Replacement is quoted per machine after the test, because a 36V commuter pack and a 72V performance pack are not the same job. Pack replacement starts at $500 at all six shops.
Certified batteries
New York has tightened its rules on lithium batteries for e-bikes and electric scooters, and the fire risk behind that is real. The short version: the pack in your ride should be certified to a recognised safety standard, and uncertified replacement packs bought online are exactly what the rules exist to keep off the street.
Covers the electrical system as one unit: battery, charger, motor and controller working together. This is the standard usually referenced for e-bikes sold in New York City.
The pack-level standard for light electric vehicles. When people talk about a "UL-certified battery" for an e-bike, this is normally the number they mean.
The electrical-system standard for personal e-mobility devices. It applies to most e-scooters, hoverboards and electric unicycles.
We will tell you what is in your ride and whether the pack carries a recognised certification. If it needs replacing, we fit a certified pack, not a generic cell block with a printed label. If you bought a cheap replacement online and it is now behaving strangely, bring it in before you charge it again. Rules change and enforcement varies, so for the current legal position check the City's own guidance at nyc.gov.
Tune-up and maintenance packages
Three set packages, each from $49.99, the same at all six shops. Each one is booked like any other repair, takes about 45 minutes, and ends with a road test. Pick the one that fits how you ride.
The full once-over for any electric scooter or e-bike. Book it before a season of daily riding, or any time the ride starts to feel off.

For a ride that is about to sit for a few months. We clean off the road salt, protect the connectors and set the battery to a safe storage charge.
from$49.99
For delivery riders putting on serious mileage. A check built around the parts that wear out first at 60 hours a week, booked around your shift.

How a repair actually goes
No deposit, no drop-off form, and no waiting for a callback with an estimate. Here is how a repair goes from the moment you roll in.
Straight in. You do not have to carry it or book ahead. Walk-ins are welcome at every shop, and the coffee is free while you wait.
Fault codes read, pack voltage checked, a load test if it is a battery question, then a road test if it will move. About five minutes, and it costs nothing.
The starting price, the parts and an honest timeframe, before anything is opened. If we cannot fix it, or should not, we say that too. Nothing goes ahead without your yes.
Watch if you want to. The technicians work a few feet from where you sit. Parts for the common jobs are on the shelf, which is why most repairs do not turn into "come back Thursday".
Nothing goes back to a rider untested. Most jobs finish in about thirty minutes, and the same day whenever the parts are in stock.
Why riders come back
A repair shop is only as good as the second visit. These are the four things riders tell us made them come back, and the reason they send their friends.
This is not a bicycle shop that reluctantly took on e-bikes. Every technician here works on electric drivetrains, controllers and battery packs all day, across electric scooters, e-bikes, electric unicycles, hoverboards and e-dirt bikes. That is why the error code that stumped another shop takes fifteen minutes here.
We stock parts for performance brands like Kaabo, Dualtron, NAMI, Teverun and Segway, not just entry-level commuters. Most repairs finish the same day instead of turning into a three-week wait for a box from overseas.
Same prices, same process and the same free first look at every location across New York and California. Book at one, walk into another, and nothing changes.

Before you roll in
The first look is free. Brake repair starts at $25, a flat tire at $40, an error code fix at $35 and a battery test at $50. Every price on the price list is a starting price that includes parts and labor, and it is the same at all six shops. You get the exact quote, free, before any work starts.
Most jobs finish in about 30 minutes. The first look takes around five minutes, brakes about 15, a flat about 20. Bigger jobs are done the same day whenever the parts are in stock, and for the common repairs we keep them on the shelf so they are.
Walk in any day we are open, no appointment needed. Roll it straight through the front door. If you would rather book a slot, your parts will be ready when you arrive. Booking also works by phone, text or email.
Any brand, any issue, and you do not need to have bought it from Wilson's. That includes the online-only e-bike brands with no dealer network, such as Rad Power, Aventon, Lectric, Super73, Juiced and Ride1Up, whose owners are usually told to ship the e-bike away. Bring it here instead.
It is. We read the fault codes, check pack voltage and find the problem for nothing, in about five minutes, and you get the price before anything is opened up. You are free to hear the number and walk away. A full diagnosis with test equipment is from $30, and that comes off the bill if the repair is over $100.
Often they can be repaired. A single weak cell group, a failed BMS or a broken internal connection can frequently be fixed for a fraction of a replacement. Most shops only replace because that is all they are equipped to do. We load-test and read the BMS first, then tell you plainly which one you are looking at.
Pack replacement starts at $500 and is quoted per machine after a load test, because a 36V commuter pack and a 72V performance pack are completely different jobs. The load test is from $50 and comes off the bill if the repair is over $100.
Roughly 300 to 500 full charge cycles before the range loss becomes obvious. A daily commuter reaches that in under two years. Heat, deep discharges and leaving it empty over winter all shorten it. A load test tells you where yours actually is rather than guessing from its age.
New York has tightened its rules on lithium batteries considerably. The standards you will see referenced are UL 2849 for the whole e-bike system, UL 2271 for the battery pack, and UL 2272 for electric scooters, hoverboards and electric unicycles. We will tell you what is in your ride and fit a certified pack if it needs replacing, never a generic cell block. For the current legal position, check the City's own guidance at nyc.gov.
In the shop, error 14 almost always turns out to be the throttle hall sensor reading outside its expected range, very often because the throttle was held down while the electric scooter powered on. It is a throttle repair, from $50, and reading the code is free.
Flat tire repair starts at $40 and takes about 20 minutes. A full tire and tube replacement starts at $65. Many electric scooter tires are tubeless and need proper bead-seating equipment, and on a lot of machines the motor is inside the wheel, so it isn't a roadside fix. Airless conversions start at $40 if you're tired of punctures.
Brake repair starts at $25 and takes about 15 minutes. That covers pads, disc cleaning, clearance and a bearing check as one job. A new brake disc is from $35 and a hydraulic bleed from $15.
Most will not. Bike shops are generally happy with the frame, drivetrain and wheels but decline hub motors, controllers and battery packs, which is exactly where e-bike faults live. Every technician here works on electric drivetrains all day, which is why we take the jobs other shops hand back.
Yes, in the shop, walk-in, while almost everywhere else is mail-in only. We service King Song, Begode, InMotion and Leaper Kim unicycles, and Hover-1, Swagtron, Jetson, Gyroor and Razor hoverboards: control boards, motors, packs and shell damage.
Yes. Sur-Ron, Talaria and E Ride Pro machines are serviced across the network, and our Corona, CA shop is the e-dirt bike specialist for controllers, packs, suspension and crash damage. We also build our own line: the Wilson's MX35, MX40 and MX37.
Roughly every 500 miles or six months, and before winter storage. A tune-up from $50 covers bolts, brakes, tire pressures, wiring and a battery load test, then a road test. Most of what gets towed in here was avoidable at that stage.
No. We do not derestrict any electric scooter or e-bike. It voids the warranty, pushes the motor, controller and battery past what they were built for, and puts you on the wrong side of the law. What we will do is get back the speed you have actually lost. Low tire pressure, a dragging brake and a tired battery pack account for most of it, and a tune-up from $50 sorts all three.
Yes. Every shop runs express service and puts working riders first. Tell the front desk and you go to the front of the queue. Flats in about 20 minutes, brakes in about 15, most jobs in about 30. Walk in mid-shift.
